WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP THE LOCAL COMMUNITY?

There are now 2 vacancies in the Duddo Ward of the Parish Council (Grindon, Grindon Rig, Grievestead, Felkington and Duddo area).

We urgently need to co-opt new members in order to ensure the survival of the Council.

NEXT MEETING OF THE COUNCIL

The next ordinary meeting of the Council is scheduled to be held on Monday, 22 May, 2017, at The Gables, Duddo. It will follow the Annual Parish Meeting which will begin at 6.30pm.

An agenda for the meeting will be made available on the Agenda page and on the noticeboard in the bus shelter in Duddo at least 3 working days before the meeting.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

Duddo PC has joined with neighbouring councils in the Norham & Islandshire area to formulate a neighbourhood plan.

WHAT DOES THE PARISH COUNCIL DO FOR YOU?

 During the last year the Parish Council has been involved with the following:

  • seeking to get local roads adequately maintained and repaired;
  • providing and maintaining the Parish Council pages of the Duddo Community Website;
  • seeking to represent the interests of local communities to Northumberland County Council;
  • supporting local groups and charities.

With the Norham & Islandshire Parish Council Association:

  • seeking information, and making representations, on the provision on emergency medical cover in the area;
  • taking forward work on a joint Neighbourhood Plan.

Some past achievements:

  • provision of the bus shelter and noticeboard in Duddo;
  • provision of the information board at Twizel Bridge;
  • rescuing the telephone box at Duddo;
  • taking an active part in the planning process, especially in safeguarding the setting of the Duddo Stones;
  • helping to fund and organise community events, such as the Jubilee celebrations.

The Council operates without the Councillors or Clerk receiving any payment. The Council only recompenses members or the Clerk for authorised expenditure on stationery or other expenses. All expenditure is properly recorded, audited and records are made available for public inspection (see below).

2015-16 AUDIT

The 2015-16 audit was signed off by the external auditor without any adverse comments.

The council is required to publish its Governance Statement, Statement of Accounts and External auditor certificate and report from the Annual Audit return.
